בשעות הליל הכול נמים;
מדוע ער רק היסמין?
אנא הסבירי לי, הו אימי–
לפני שארדם, הסבירי נא לי.
שאר הפרחים, ביום ערים;
ובלילה ישנים.
בשעות יום, הם ניחוח מפיצים;
במתיקות רבה שרים.
אני אותם לומד להכיר
באמצעות אהבתנו לאור המאיר.
ישנים הכלבלבים והתוכים הקטנים;
ישנות הדבורים.
שיח היסמין מחייך ואומר:
"ער אני".
אנא עני לי אימי, היסמין נותר ערני
מתוך אהבה למי?
אמא
ילדי יקירי, זו הסיבה שער היסמין הלילי
בלילות אפלים.
באור היום הוא חש בושה;
נשמט אל אדמה.
בתום הליל, הוא צונח מטה
מעט אחרי אורו של שחר.
באותו זמן, ילדי הזהוב,
תנומתך כבר תעזוב.
