ברקיע שזורים נצנצים;
שם, זורחים הכוכבים.
בחברתם של כוכבי המרום אנוכי,
כל הלילה נותר ער אני.

ובעוד אני עף, נתקף אני בצער רב;
בעת ההיא כולם בי מואסים.

מהם שולף אני רבגוניות זוהר וצבעים.
מסביב מהדהדים תופי הדוד,
וכולם הדורים בתחפושות של ריקוד.
בראותי את מחול הצ'או, איני בורח עוד.
למה הו למה התעלמת ממצוקותיי הגדולות?
אותי לא לקחת הביתה ואף לא שילחת הרחק;
אז לאן אלך היום, אמור לי, לאן אלך.
עתה אלוהים לבדו הוא מחוז מבטחי,
בשעות האחרונות של הלילה הוא נותר ערני,
אי שם בשמיים שמעל האופק המזרחי.
